About the Script Policy

What is the scriptbin Script Policy?

scriptbin's Script Policy is dictated by what is required to conform to the terms of acceptable usage where it is hosted. If hosting it would put the existence of the site and the hosting of all scripts in jeopardy, hosting it is not tenable. Scripts are pieces of writing, and like other pieces of writing they establish a fictional world where fictional events take place, some of which may be pleasant and some of which may not be pleasant. Scripts are not manuals for how to behave or treat other people, nor do they promote everything they depict.

In particular, the policy does not allow:

Subjects that are sensitive or taboo and not disallowed above are allowed, if these conditions are met:

Writers or users violating this policy, or found to spread or promote NSFW scripts to people who should not see it, may be suspended and/or have scripts removed, as the situation may warrant.

What about Sensitive scripts and disclaimers?

Writers have the opportunity to provide one general disclaimer, which is shown for all scripts, and to provide a separate disclaimer per script. Writers can also set all their scripts generally as Sensitive or not, and override this per script.

A script is marked as Sensitive if it deals with sensitive or taboo subjects, is likely to upset or offend, or may appear to violate the Script Policy (in which case the disclaimer should explain why it doesn't). A script marked as Sensitive is hidden when the page is first shown, and is shown when you click a "Show script" button below the disclaimers. If no disclaimer has been entered, a general disclaimer is shown.

Writers can enter disclaimers without scripts being Sensitive, as a courtesy for the reader. For example, some scripts may refer to relatively light emotional or relational trauma that isn't abuse, but the writers may still wish to warn about that.
